More, better and less: our 2021 projects

A new year means new beginnings and new projects, and 2021 will be a continuation of previous years, continuing to develop responsible clothing by offering you the best value for money.

We've never developed a new collection every 3 months, but we couldn't believe our eyes when we watched the Arte report on fast fashion, available in replay right here: some brands manage to bring out 200 new products A DAY, or 60,000 new references A YEAR. Maison FT is staying the course, offering you slow fashion: you buy from us when you need it, less but better. On our side, there will be 8 new products this year, in certified organic cotton, so you know everything.

We're not going to give you a preview of all our new products, but we are going to let you in on a bit of news, because you've come this far, and every read deserves a scoop.

Théophile and I have observed since we were very young that our Mum had a box of orphan socks in a cupboard... So socks are fine, but in terms of slow fashion, we can do a lot better. Do you know the number-one reason we throw away our socks? Holes? No way! We throw them away because we separate and misplace them!

To alleviate this problem, we're arriving very quickly with eco-friendly socks that you won't lose, made from recycled organic cotton and certified by the gots label, by the global recycle standard (GRS) and by oeko tex. And to make sure we don't over-produce, we're continuing our pre-order system. These pre-orders will be placed through the Ullule platform, which contacted us, rather than directly through our website as we usually do.

2020 will remain the year of confinement, the year of covid, the year of this very special year that you and we have spent almost entirely at home, in our living room, our bedroom, our kitchen or ... our toilets. With telecommuting the order of the day, dress codes have changed and our stylistic behaviors have adapted. Your requests have adapted to this situation, and over the last 8 months we've been receiving countless requests for comfortable jogging pants in organic cotton. Jogging suits or joggers for bilinguals.

They're comfortable, well-cut, sporty but not too sporty, chic jogging - anything's possible! As for color, we'll be asking you to choose between navy blue, bottle green, mottled gray, pastel pink, sky blue and black. Read our article on polls and what motivates us to carry them out.

Eco-responsible jogging means jogging that's woven in Porto, that travels 10 times less than Asian jogging, and that's woven from certified organic cotton.

Finally, this is a jogging suit you'll keep for 10 years, because making a garment and destroying it are the two most polluting phases in its life cycle. It's highly likely that this jogging suit will also be available in shorts, so that you can chill out in summer too, or for the less chilly in winter. However, the shorts have yet to be confirmed.

To complement stockings (socks, jogging pants) and keep your head cool, 2021 will also be the year of the beanie, because we need to adapt to demand and think up new ranges of accessories.

Our long-standing cotton culture at Maison FT (t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags) had somewhat delayed our plans to develop a wool-based range.

After the success of our Colin sweater, made in France, our hats are on the grill for an expected arrival in October 2021. We'll be opting for materials that provide comfort and durability, while reducing our impact on global plastic production. These hats will be made from viscose, a vegetable fiber that consumes much less water, and merino wool, the most prized wool known for its comfort, warmth and temperature regulation. The merino wool will be mixed with cashmere, the idea being that you'll be seen in 10 years' time with your 2021 hat on your head.

If you'd like more information on raw materials and their virtues, you can find our guide to recognizing eco-friendly clothing right here.

In terms of design, you'll find pom-pom hats and classic hats in sober colors, as well as more committed ones. In short, you should be able to find what you're looking for.

Hopefully, 2021 will be more exciting than 2020. This crisis will have had the positive effect of changing people's consciences and perhaps turning you towards more responsible alternatives. We don't pretend to change the world with our collections, our commitments, our transparency or our labels, we' re simply trying to make things happen on our own small scale.

Today, Maison FT has 6 employees and offers you, as best we can, quality clothing that respects Mother Nature as much as possible, while remaining transparent in our manufacturing process.

So thank you for believing with us, thank you for being there, thank you for making things happen together, because without you we're nothing, and without you, the 2021 projects would never be thought through or implemented.
