A Eurostat study has just been released. As it's a bit [a lot!] boring and we're being nice, we've summarized it for you here.
In the European Union in 2016, households spent €395.4 billion on clothes and shoes. That's around €800 per capita.
[ Editor's note: This leaves room for young French brands... ;) ]
On average, this represents 4.9% of a household's annual expenditure.
This share rises to 6.8% in Estonia, whereas it represents only 3.4% of a Bulgarian household budget.
In France, the clothing/shoes budget represents an average of 3.8% of household expenditure. A steadily declining budget. This compares with 11.8% in the 1960s.
